We watched the site and were both very excited to see the "under contract" changed to SOLD ! After all our troubles of getting there (snow storm of the century! flight canceled, next flight diverted from Richmond to Raleigh - then renting a car in Raleigh and driving up !) When we finally arrived, it was as pretty as the picture! (Even though you had no power!) It was still as it was shown in the pictures on the website. Initially, I was apprehensive - having gone through all those troubles, I felt something was telling me that this might not be a smart purchase. David crawled under and over the truck and said it was 'so clean', and after taking it for a test drive - he'd buy it! So, I took the plunge and bought it. I have not regretted it for one second ! I think the truck was very glad to get out of that snow.... and down here to Florida for some sunshine (but still cold) weather !

After 2 years of searching for the right vehicle for me, I decided on a Diesel.  I have several family members who own them and can’t say enough about their performance.  The Cummins Turbo Diesel was my first choice.  I searched locally and discovered that they were extremely expensive and hard to find.  I started researching on the Internet and ran across Handpicked Western Trucks.  I began to check their inventory regularly.  I read all of the comments and when the time was right and the funds were available I headed out to Leon, Virginia about 3 hours away.  The countryside was nice and so were the Owners of Handpicked Western Trucks.  They showed attention to detail, knowledge of their product and a willingness to go the extra mile.  A month has gone by and I love my 2004 Dodge 2500 4 door with an 8ft bed.  But I would have to say that my favorite part would be hearing that Cummins Turbo Diesel crank over every morning.  I even let my wife drive it!

After months of driving to dealerships, looking at Craigs List, Ebay, and Trading Posts for the exact F250 Super Duty diesel pickup I wanted, I almost gave up. So I did a few last searches on the internet and found Handpicked Western Trucks - and the trucks on the web site looked clean, and prices looked right on. So I made the call, spoke to Mark, and he showed me the truck I was interested in - a 2000 F250 Super Duty with the 7.3L PowerStroke, extended cab, 4x4. Instantly, after driving it, I knew it was perfect! I couldn’t believe it! So we sealed the deal, and after having it inspected, Mark & Colleen told me that the technician found a leak from the transmission - something they didn’t have to mention at all!! “A dealership with my best interest in mind? They could have easily let me drive home and never mentioned it, but their character and honesty came out. This is the first time I’ve ever had absolute confidence in a dealership, and as far as I’m concerned, it’s the only place to buy a diesel pickup! It’s been close to three months since I bought my 2003 Dodge Ram Cummins from Handpicked Western Trucks and I have not forgotten how well they treated me. I found the truck online at 3:00 one afternoon. Although I was 3 hours away they said they’d wait for me if I wanted to come down that evening. They normally close at 6 pm. With traffic it took me over three and a half hours to get there but they waited for me as promised. When I got there Mark was talking to a guy who I assumed was a friend. He let me look at the truck without standing over my shoulder. I crawled in, out, and under it. When I was ready I took it for a ride through the beautiful countryside. I liked the truck and decided I wanted it. It was only after I left a deposit Colleen told me the gentleman talking to Mark was another customer interested in the same truck but since I had called first they let me make a decision before they let him purchase the truck. I think very few dealers would do that.
The next day I arranged financing and made my way back down to central VA. Once again I was later than expected in arriving, my daughter had wrecked my car just as I was signing my loan papers at the bank. Without a car I called Colleen and asked if I rode my motorcycle down would they have a way to get it into my truck. Mark said they could definitely work something out. I rode down, finished the paperwork, and as promised they helped load the bike into the truck.
I will not soon forget my buying experience with Handpicked Western Trucks and will definitely look them up when I’m ready for another truck.

Logan Receives His First Vehicle Ever on Christmas Day!

Back in late November Logan G. came to our dealership with his parents to look at diesel trucks in an effort to find his first vehicle. His heart was set on a ’97 Ford F250 7.3L Power Stroke black regular cab. Behind the scenes in the office, unbeknownst to Logan, his Dad purchased the truck with the plan to hide it from him until Christmas morning. Colleen said it was painful to watch young Logan leave the lot disappointed that his parents apparently had put off the decision to buy! It was obvious that he was fearful another customer who was on the lot that same day and had test driven the same truck, was going to move in on his “territory”. We got his parents’ promise that they’d send us a picture of Logan with his new truck!!! Sure enough, we received this picture by e-mail around noon on Christmas Day.

I first heard about Handpicked Trucks in the Auto Trader catalog and thought I would check out the website several years ago. Ever since I have been keeping an eye on the site for incoming trucks until I found the one I really wanted. I’ve called them several times concerning other trucks and they have always been helpful. This purchase has been the absolute best.  My girlfriend and I drove down from Fredericksburg after looking on the internet to see what there was at the dealership. My intentions were to buy the “Tried and True” 7.3L Power Stroke. I test drove one. It was a great truck! We wanted leather interior. Mark said he had a 2005 Chevrolet Silverado 2500 LT that he had bought out in Colorado and drove back. I took it for a short test drive and decided this was the truck we wanted (actually my girlfriend decided this was the truck she wanted).
I “highly” recommend Handpicked Western Trucks to everyone. Mark and Colleen are in the business of selling trucks, but there is no “high pressure” sales there. They are not going to convince you to just buy a truck and like it later. That has been my experience at the "Big Box" dealerships. I know the big box dealerships have a lot of overhead, but maybe they should take lessons from Colleen and Mark. In closing, when I am in the market to buy another truck, I will be going back to Handpicked Western Trucks again.

Hope you and your family enjoyed the Thanksgiving Holiday. Here is my story for you to post on your website about my purchase. After hours and hours of research on the internet I decided the truck I wanted was an 05 or 06, mint condition, low mileage Dodge with the 5.9 Cummins Diesel, 4 x 4, Quad Cab, manual 6 speed with a long bed. I searched every Dodge Dealer within 250 miles of my north central Indiana location and found nothing that met my criteria. I was about to give up when I found the Handpicked Western Truck website and there it was, the exact truck I was looking for. I was skeptical at first and really didn't want to make a 1,400 mile round trip and be disappointed. After reading all the great comments from other buyers and talking to both of you several times, I decided to make the trip. So I convinced my youngest son and one of his friends to make the trip with me. WOW, the truck was better than you described. After a test drive we started the paper work, about a fifteen minute process, and we were done. The whole experience could not have been better. My son later told me, Dad that was fun, I really had a good time. After nearly a year of searching on the internet for this particular model of truck in manual shift --- I found the Handpicked Western Trucks website. I found the truck I wanted, then looked at the pictures of the vehicle, in particular the one of the engine compartment, and I was sold.
Then came the problem of organizing the financing from the Cayman Islands in the Caribbean where I work. First Cate and Colleen chatted, deposits got lost in “cyberspace”, then Mark and I chatted. They cut me some slack with timing when money wires kept getting lost! I was used to this coming from Africa where I was a Professional Hunter!! But I am not sure they were!
I have now collected my “beast” and finally met Mark and Colleen face to face. These folks have retained the old style honors, codes and traditions that America was formed on and it has been our privilege and pleasure to do business with them. Mark even put a name on the truck that I told him about: “Dugga Boy” --- Tribal word for the big bad black Cape Buffalo bulls (I used to see in Africa).

We wanted a truck for hauling vineyard and orchard supplies and we knew we wanted a diesel. I had worked on diesel engines while in the Coast Guard, however, I never owned a large diesel truck. Mary and I spent many hours with Mark and Colleen one Saturday - the entire day actually - test driving trucks. We never felt pressured and Mark was the patient teacher. We didn’t buy that day although I nearly walked off with the keys to a great F-250 (Mark had suggested where to eat lunch and that’s where he found us and the keys!)
True to his word, Mark called a couple of days later with the news of an incoming truck that might just fit the bill. He was right. We knew that Mark loves his trucks, and would not sell something that he himself wouldn’t buy. Great business, great folk.

Man from Winston Salem NC buys 1997 Ford F250 Crew Cab Short Bed

On December 1, 2007 Colleen and I delivered a 1997 Ford F250 to Mr. “Jay” Cutchin of Winston Salem, NC. He purchased this truck based on our pictures and description, but his most positive reaction upon actually seeing the truck and the subsequent test drive really said it all. Several days later on the phone he exclaimed, “Colleen, the more I drive this truck, the more I like it, but I have a problem with Mark’s MIG scale rating of 9.5. It really should’ve been 9.8!” We commented that we prefer to understate quality and condition and have the customer pleasantly surprised when they actually see and drive the truck. Jay, thank you so much for your business!!!
Subsequent to the above posting, Jay e-mailed us and wanted to say it in his own words. Jay writes about his purchase:
Well - what an experience it was, and a pleasant one, by the way. You know it’s hard for a southern redneck good ’ole boy to trust a couple of transplanted Yankees but I stuck my neck out and did just that. I also bought a vehicle over the phone, after just looking at just a couple of photos - sent these people money even! Can you believe it? After it’s all been said and done, however, I have to say that Mark and Colleen are really southern at heart - they just talk funny. They assured me that I could inspect the truck, drive it and kick the tires all I wanted and if I didn’t like it, I didn’t have to take it. They were extremely accommodating and drove the truck down to NC on a visit to their daughter and her family. (Grandparents are such suckers - they just used me as an excuse). Well - I had a friend (also a TPY from MA - they’re taking over) drive me over to pick up the truck and he also was impressed with Mark and Colleen and was really impressed with the truck. “SWEET” was his remark. After driving it for a month now, it has surpassed my expectations. No dings, rust, faded paint or cracked paint - no blemishes whatsoever. Runs like a sewing machine. The only fault I can find is that Mark’s rating system is too strict - he said my truck was a 9.5 - it should be a 9.8. I drive vehicles until the wheels come off or my needs change. Then I’ll be calling Handpicked Western Trucks once again. This time I won’t be trusting strangers.

I finally found what I was looking for here at Handpicked Western Trucks. Try finding extended cab diesel with a manual transmission. I searched the truck trader and found 2 within 400 miles. This one and one that was all beat up. When I saw the pictures of the truck I immediately called to see if the truck was still available. Mark informed me that the ad had just came out that day. He answered all the questions I had about the truck. I knew from talking with Mark that this was the truck I was looking for.
Unlike any other dealer, they were willing to work with my schedule. I put a contract on the truck and they held the truck until I could get there. If I'm ever in the market for another diesel truck, you can bet that the first place I'll be looking is Handpicked Western Trucks. There are a lot of people selling used trucks, but few have trucks as clean as the ones I saw here.

I recently purchased a used diesel truck from Handpicked Western Trucks. Now, I’ve purchased several vehicles during my lifetime and I can honestly say this was the best buying experience I have ever had. When I went to check out the truck Mark and Colleen had listed on their website, I was truly impressed by the reception I received at their office. They met me outside and had the truck sitting up front for my immediate inspection and it looked just as sharp as it had on the web. When I asked about a test drive, Colleen handed me the key and let me take the truck out alone, making the statement “the truck should sell itself, not us talking about it.” The truck was everything they had indicated and I immediately began the arrangements to buy the truck.
Mark and Colleen were extremely helpful throughout the entire process. They worked out the arrangements for me getting the finances to them, let me take the truck for an independent inspection and just all around were very easy going to work with.

We started this process about 4 to 5 months ago in search of the right vehicle for our business.
